Whitecaps join Sounders and Galaxy in the Champions League

On 18 October 2014, at 1:02 PM, Pacific Standard Time, the Vancouver Whitecaps Football Club officially qualified for the 2015-16 CONCACAF Champions League. They join Seattle Sounders and Los Angeles Galaxy, who had already qualified by virtue of winning the US Open Cup and finishing no lower than second in MLS.

Heineken scores first Major League Sponsorship in North America

On Tuesday, Heineken entered into a multi-year, multi-million dollar sponsorship deal with Major League. Conflicting reports put it at either four or five years, with each year of the deal being worth 10-million dollars. Beginning in 2015, Heineken will feature prominently during broadcasts, with on-site signage, digital advertisements, and point-of-sale materials. The problem here is that while Heineken will become the league's Official Beer, that doesn't necessarily translate into being a club's Official Beer.

Simon Fraser set to repeat Entomology 303

After drawing the Matchday One in Bellingham, the Clan started early on Friday night against the Yellowjackets. The Clan's Captain, Jovan Blagojevic, earned himself a penalty kick less than 20 seconds into the game. MSU-Billings goalkeeper Tom Lohmann went right, and Blagojevic went left to easily convert the penalty with a right-footed shot into the bottom corner.

A win in Seattle on October 10th and the Cup will be theirs. Anything else and it will be the Sounders who celebrate.

Simon Fraser Clan too hot for the Hawaii-Hilo Vulcans

The Clan were back at it on Tuesday night when they hosted the Hawaii-Hilo Vulcans in a preseason friendly at Fox Field. And just as they had when they hosted the Sonoma State Seawolves, they got off to an early start.
