It took an 80th minute strike by Christine Sinclair to save the day in sunny South Surrey. Vancouver Whitecaps FC's star striker, Mele French, had put the struggling W-League side ahead, thanks to a deserved penalty after Candace Chapman had tackled French from behind in the box. The friendly was played in three periods of 40, 25, and 25 minutes, before a 500-strong crowd.
